Actor Chandan Kumar will soon be seen playing a police officer on the new Kannada serial Marali Manasagidhe, shooting for which is currently underway in Bengaluru. The show has Divya Wagukar and Shilpa Shetty as the female leads. Marali Manasagidhe is the remake of the Hindi serial Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin.
Chandan says, “This is my the first show that I have signed since I got married earlier this year, so I am quite excited about it. I play an upright police officer who aspires to punish people who harm society, in between. There is a love story too, which adds an interesting twist to the tale.”
Before taking up the new role, Chandan also had his work cut out, as he had to get in shape for it, given that he had gained weight during the lockdown. “I needed to knock off a few kilos to look fit enough as a cop, for which I took up a 100 km treadmill challenge over seven days. It paid off,” he says.
The actor, who is also seen on the cookery reality show Cookku With Kirikku, had shot for his maiden directorial film for a few days before the lockdown. He shares, “I was keen to do a movie that I had planned last year. While we managed to shoot for a few days, the second wave of the pandemic put the brakes on that. Since it is still not conducive for film releases, I am looking at resuming the shoot only by the end of the year and will, until then, concentrate on my TV commitments.”
