Chances of any more senior Leeds United player leaving this window are remote

Outgoings have been on their biggest scale in years at Leeds United this summer. After consecutive transfer windows where players left for peanuts or nothing, the Whites finally cashed in on arguably their two best assets.

Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips pulled in around £100m between them for United to then do some shopping of their own and reshape this squad for Jesse Marsch. Time will tell how well that money has been reinvested at Elland Road, but many fans hoped for more in hard cash for that pair.

Chief executive Angus Kinnear has since explained the value in having the majority of their fees paid up front, which did ultimately bring the headline figure down, but delivered more of it for Leeds to immediately spend. Nobody else has left the club for that kind of money, but there have been plenty of exits.

Tyler Roberts has finally been given the chance to get some regular minutes after slipping too far down the United pecking order. The Wales international may even stay at Queens Park Rangers if they are promoted in May.

Helder Costa sparked a couple of times during the promotion-winning season, but he ended what’s been a largely underwhelming three years by joining Al-Ittihad on a loan which will become permanent. Kiko Casilla brought an end to his Leeds nightmare with a mutual termination of his contract.

Leif Davis, Liam McCarron, Nohan Kenneh, Elia Caprile and Ryan Edmondson were others to end their Elland Road stays on a permanent basis. However, none of them faced any realistic prospect of making it at Leeds within the next year or two.

Jamie Shackleton, Charlie Cresswell and Lewis Bate followed Roberts out on loan in search of more minutes. Leeds are well stocked in their positions and it made sense to serve their development in the EFL.

There could yet be more going out of Elland Road before deadline day, but the chances of anyone senior leaving are looking more and more remote. The Jack Harrison gossip has been shut down by Andrea Radrizzani, while Mateusz Klich’s game-changing impact on the opening day could turn the tide on him sticking around.

Klich feels like the most senior name who could still go, while Ian Poveda, without a squad number, will leave for more opportunities if he knows what’s good for him. Fringe options like Stuart McKinstry, Jack Jenkins, Alfie McCalmont, Mateusz Bogusz and Kun Temenuzhkov are also possible departees before 11pm on September 1.
