Chance the Rapper working on parenting agreement for his daughter

May 26--Chance the Rapper and the mother of his 8-month-old daughter appear to be working out a parenting agreement for the girl, according to documents filed in Cook County Circuit Court.

Kirsten Corley filed a petition in February asking the court to declare the 23-year-old rapper the father of the girl, born Sept. 16, and to set child support.

In the filing, Corley said she should remain the "sole caretaker" of the girl, who lived exclusively with her. Corley asked the court to require the rapper, whose birth name is Chancelor Bennett, to pay child support retroactive to the girl's birth, expenses incurred during pregnancy and delivery and attorneys fees.

In March, Corley amended her petition to say she and Chance have been living together and he has contributed money and care for their daughter. She asked that Chance continue to provide for the girl, but Corley said she could not pay attorneys fees without contribution from Chance.

In a filing by Chance this week, the rapper agreed with most of the points Corley made in her March filing. He asked that the court declare him to be the girl's father and award him and Corley "shared allocation of parental responsibility and reasonable parenting time."

But he asked that he and Corley pay their own attorneys fees. Representatives for both sides are expected back in court next month. They did not immediately respond to Tribune requests for comment.

The rapper, who has referred to his daughter in interviews and lyrics, released his "Coloring Book" mixtape May 12.
