Chance the Rapper releases first two mixtapes on streaming, vinyl

Chance the Rapper, photographed in April, released his first two mixtapes on Spotify and Apple Music after years of straying from commercial streaming.

Chance the Rapper released his first two mixtapes, 10Day and Acid Rap, on streaming services Spotify and Apple Music Friday.

The Chicago native previously strayed from having his music on commercial services, preferring to release his work on platforms like Soundcloud.

Chance said in a 2016 interview with Billboard that he appreciated the direct relationship platforms like Soundcloud allowed him to have with his fans.

“It’s not about the music being free,” he said in the interview. “It was always about the artist-to-fan relationship.”

Chance has widely established himself as an unconventional rapper, choosing to create without the backing of a label, despite his massive popularity.

The two mixtapes will also be available in physical vinyl copies.

The rapper tweeted that latest album will be released in July, and has launched a pre-order for his upcoming tour and debut album.
