Chance of tropical storm off North Carolina down to 50 percent: NHC

(Reuters) - The chance of a tropical disturbance near the South Carolina coast developing into a storm in the next two days has fallen to 50 percent from an initial estimate of 70 percent, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said on Tuesday.

The system, named 'potential tropical cyclone ten' is now about 150 miles (240 km) southwest of Wilmington, North Carolina with maximum sustained winds of 40 miles per hour (65 km per hour), the NHC said.
