Championship transfer rumours: Newcastle United and Leicester plot £15m battle, QPR set for Spurs offer

Leicester & Newcastle plot Benrahma bids

Leicester City and Newcastle United are preparing to face off in the transfer market this summer in a £15m scrap for Brentford winger Said Benrahma, The Sun reports.

The Algeria international has played a pivotal role in Brentford’s charge up the Championship standings, as they seek to battle for a play-off spot in the quest for promotion to the Premier League.

Benrahma hit a hat-trick in a 5-1 drubbing of Hull City at the weekend, taking his tally this season to eight goals and five assists in 27 appearances this term.

Man City eye Swansea defender

Manchester City are tracking Swansea City defender Joe Rodon in their hunt for defensive reinforcements, The Daily Mail reports.

The 22-year-old has earned rave reviews in the Championship this season and is reportedly one of three defenders that City are eyeing this summer as part of their significant rebuild, following a poor defence of their Premier League crown.

The Wales international has been scouted by Bournemouth, Everton, Leicester, Chelsea and Arsenal this season.

Ashley Williams talks planned

Bristol City boss Lee Johnson has confirmed he will hold talks with defender Ashley Williams, with clubs beginning to circle ahead the expiration of his contract at the end of the season.

Greek club Panathinaikos, Turkish outfit Antalyaspor and American MLS club DC United have been said keen on Williams, who is now open to make pre-contract agreements with clubs before the summer transfer window.

However, speaking to BBC Radio Bristol, Johnson has said: “I’ve got a few ideas and I’d like to sit down with Ash and have a chat and discuss his mindset. Until you’ve done that is difficult to map a path and for him or for the squad.”

QPR eye offer for Spurs talent

QPR are readying an offer for Tottenham defender Jonathan Dinzeyi as they look to secure a talent from the North London side once again, Football Insider reports.

Dinzeyi headed to the West London side for a recent trial and the report now states QPR are preparing to make a permanent swoop for the player after he impressed while playing with the U23 side.

The youngster’s deal at Tottenham expires at the end of the season and the club may be willing to let him go.
