Championship transfer rumours: Leeds plot keeper move, Huddersfield eye Willock deal

The 2019/20 Championship campaign currently finds itself in shutdown mode for the foreseeable future as English football has come to a standstill due to the coronavirus outbreak.

After the season was originally suspended until April 3, the FA made the decision to push that suspension back even further on Friday, with all elite-level football in England now suspended until April 30, at the earliest.

That, of course, means that on-field matters will not be able to write the headlines, paving the way for transfer gossip and speculation to take care of those matters.

And with that in mind, here is a round-up of the day’s very latest Championship rumours.

Terriers eye permanent Willock deal

Huddersfield Town are not ruling out the possibility of signing on-loan Benfica attacker Chris Willock on a permanent basis this summer, according to Examiner Live.

The former Arsenal youngster returned to English football in January in a bid to secure more first-team football, joining the Terriers until the end of the season.

Despite having only joined the Yorkshire club less than two months ago, the Terriers are keen to land the 22-year-old on a permanent basis.

Since joining Danny Cowley’s side, Willock has made seven appearances, in which time he has netted one goal.

Whites plot move for Cherries shot-stopper

Football Insider are reporting that Leeds United are keeping close tabs on AFC Bournemouth goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, with the Whites weighing up a summer move for the youngster.

With Leeds, should the season resume, destined to gain promotion to the Premier League for next season, it is believed that the Whites are on the lookout for a new shot-stopper, with the club having doubts of Kiko Casilla’s ability to perform at a higher level.

And it is reported that Leeds have identified Ramsdale - an England Under-21 international - as a potential target, should they get over the line.

This season, Ramsdale has been a standout performer in a troubled campaign for the Cherries, with his performances rarely going unnoticed.

Boro hot-shot in demand

Middlesbrough look set to have a battle on their hands this summer as they look to try and keep hold of highly-rated striker Calum Kavanagh, according to the Daily Star.

The 16-year-old striker, who is showing real signs of promise in the Championship club’s academy set-up, is emerging as a target for Premier League giants Chelsea.

However, Middlesbrough are not prepared to lose one of the brightest young talents emerging in English football without a fight, with the club set to try and offer him a new deal.

But it is not just Chelsea keeping a firm eye on the 16-year-old’s development, as Arsenal are also keen on a deal for the striker.
