Championship transfer rumours: Leeds backed to make Edouard move, West Ham want Forest star

The 2019/20 Championship campaign was suspended "indefinitely" last week, with the EFL announcing that fixtures would only resume once it is safe to do so.

That, of course, means that on-field matters will not be able to write the headlines over the coming weeks, paving the way for transfer gossip and speculation to take centre stage.

With that in mind, here is a round-up of the day's very latest Championship rumours.

Whelan tips Whites to make move for Celtic star

Former Leeds United striker Noel Whelan believes his old side should target Celtic forward Odsonne Edouard in the summer.

Edouard has scored 22 times in the Scottish Premier League this season and the former Whites man believes he should be a target for Marcelo Bielsa.

"You would hope we get new investment and the money from the Premier League,” Whelan told Football Insider.

"Then it is a case of spending money in the right areas and a goal-scorer is one you are going to have to part with a lot of money with, unfortunately. We need to give ourselves every opportunity.

"We need players that will make a difference. I would be looking at the Celtic striker - Edouard - if we are going up. Is he available and if he is, let’s bring him in. For £30m, that would be a great buy and I can see it."

Hammers target Cash

Premier League side West Ham United are interested in Nottingham Forest right-back Matty Cash, as cited by Nottinghamshire Live.

The Hammers reportedly had an £18m bid turned down for Cash in January but remain interested in the 22-year-old.

Cash has also been linked with a move to AC Milan, Everton and Southampton in the summer after an impressive season in a new position.

However, he did sign a new contract at the City Ground in November, until the summer of 2023, with Forest determined to keep hold of one of their most valuable players.

Stoke battle with Rangers for winger

Stoke City have joined the race with Rangers to sign Dundee United winger Louis Appere, according to Football Insider.

Appere has scored four goals and provided five assists in the Scottish Championship for Dundee this season and has appeared on the Potters’ radar.

The 21-year-old has dual French and Scottish citizenship and has been scouted by Stoke regularly according to the report.

Scottish giants Rangers also hold an interest in Appere, and have been keeping a close-eye on him this season.
