Championship transfer rumours: Deportivo keen on keeping Baggies star, Leeds handed Brannagan boost

It has now been almost a fortnight since the English football season was suspended indefinitely, meaning clubs remain in the dark of when they will get the chance, if possible, to resume their campaigns.

The coronavirus crisis has had a heavy impact on football right across Europe as clubs entered the business end of the campaign, meaning it could have severe implications on promotions and relegations.

As well as that, it could also have quite an impact on the transfer window, with no guarantees now in place of when it may possibly open.

Despite, the gossip columns are still alive and kicking with all the latest rumours.

And with that in mind, here is a round-up of the day’s very latest Championship rumours.

Leeds handed Brannagan boost

Leeds United have been handed a boost in their pursuit of in-demand Oxford United midfielder Cameron Brannagan, according to Football Insider.

It was only recently claimed that Leeds, who have been joined by Burnley in the race to sign the former Liverpool youngster, would have to pay somewhere in the region of between £3m - £5m

Now, though, Oxford will be willing to sell him for less because of the potential financial difficulties that a host of League One and League Two clubs could be set to experience because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Prices are predicted to plummet this summer because of the pandemic, which has had a major impact on the UK economy.

Deportivo eye permanent Burke deal

La Liga outfit Deportivo Alaves are eyeing up a permanent deal for on-loan West Bromwich Albion attacker Oliver Burke, a report by Spanish media outlet AS claims.

The 22-year-old Scotland international, formerly of Nottingham Forest and RB Leipzig, has been on loan with the Spanish club since the end of August.

During his time in Spain so far, the winger has racked up 22 appearances for the club, scoring one goal.

Despite the statistics not making for a glowing reading, Deportivo are keen to keep Burke once his loan deal expires in the summer.

Stoke keen on Dykes deal

Stoke City manager Michael O’Neill is keen on bolstering his attacking options this summer with the signing of highly-rated Livingston striker Lyndon Dykes, according to a report by The Scottish Sun.

The Australian frontman has made 25 appearances in the Scottish Premiership this season, scoring nine goals, as well as claiming eight assists.

The striker, who is a big, powerful unit, only joined Livingston last summer from Queen of the South.

But the Potters may not have such a straightforward time in trying to secure a deal for the 24-year-old, as Scottish giants Rangers are also keen on signing him.
