Championship transfer news: Leeds United bids and price tags, Aston Villa and West Brom blows

Championship clubs around the competition are firmly focused on the summer transfer window now as they attempt to add to their respective squads ahead of next season.

This is the time of the year when the rumour mill goes into overdrive and that's highlighted by the latest round-up of gossip.

Bristol City are yet to make any senior recruits but there could be some movement on this during the week.

Ahead of then, here is a latest look at how the Robins' rivals are doing.

Leeds leading race for Macaroon

Leeds United are planning to beat off interest from their rivals by offering £250K for Carlisle United winger Liam Macaroon.

Premier League side Wolves are also tracking the 18-year-old, who played 18 games in League Two last season.

MailOnline state that the Whites are confident of getting a deal over the line and believe their ability to offer more game-time could be the clinching factor.

Whites slap price tag on duo

Sticking at Leeds for now and Marcelo Bielsa is reportedly remaining steadfast in his desire to keep two of his players at Elland Road.

That's according to the Daily Star, who are reporting that Leeds have slapped a combined price tag of £40m on Jack Clarke and Kalvin Phillips.

Tottenham are interested in Clarke but Leeds won't budge on their value, while it's the same with Phillips, who is interesting Aston Villa. The Star say that both players will not leave for less than £20m.

Race for Lowe takes twist

Millwall have reportedly made a bid for West Brom target Jamal Lowe, something which represents a blow to West Brom, who are also after the Portsmouth winger.

The 24-year-old bagged 15 goals in League One last term and assisted eight more as Portsmouth made the play-offs before missing out on promotion.

Mirror Football state that Millwall have opened the bidding for the player with an offer of £2.5m.

Swansea City exit?

Jefferson Montero has been linked with a departure from Swansea City, according to Record.

Mexican side Deportivo Toluca are reportedly interested in the 29-year-old, who was on loan at West Brom last season from Swansea.
