Championship transfer gossip: Newcastle United handed more time for West Bromwich Albion negotiations; Leeds United beaten to target by Manchester United; Birmingham City reject Southampton bid

Bristol City fans are waiting eagerly to find out what their club's next steps in the transfer market will be.

In the time being, here are the latest rumours around the second tier for Robins fans to keep their eye on.

Rondon latest

Chronicle Live report that Newcastle United have been assured that they will be given a chance to sign Salomon Rondon from West Brom.

The striker spent the season on loan at St James Park and now the Magpies want to sign him permanently.

With a £16.5m release clause, Wolves and West Ham are also sniffing round him, but the Magpies have been told they will get an opportunity to sign him if they want.

Daniel James

Leeds United look guaranteed to miss out on Daniel James.

The Swansea City winger was close to joining the Elland Road club on transfer deadline day in January but the move fell through.

He now is very close to sealing a move to Manchester United.

Adams rejection

The Daily Mail report that Birmingham City have rejected an £8m for Che Adams from Southampton.

The Saints' offer for the Blues' in-demand 22-year-old was well below what he is valued at.

He netted 22 goals for Birmingham last season.
