Championship transfer gossip: Leeds United to make final bid for West Brom, Celtic, Middlesbrough and Stoke City top target; QPR want Chelsea defender

The clock is ticking in the summer transfer market with only just over two weeks remaining for Championship clubs to get their deals done.

Second-tier clubs old and new are battling to add to their squads ahead of the new season and none more so than West Brom.

The Baggies have been relentless in this window and that’s where we start today’s round-up.

West Brom fall short

West Brom have fallen short in their bid to land Brentford star Romaine Sawyers.

The Baggies, who have already been busy in this market, submitted a £2.5 million bid.

But the Bees value Sawyers at £3million or more, rejecting West Brom’s bid.

Following that news, Football Insider report Leeds United will make a final push to land the midfielder who is also being monitored by Celtic, Middlesbrough and Stoke City.

QPR working on deal to sign Chelsea defender

Queens Park Rangers are interested signing Chelsea right-back Dujon Sterling on loan according to West London Sport

QPR manager Mark Warburton is looking to line up a replacement for Darnell Furlong, who is poised to join West Brom.

Chelsea academy product Sterling, 19, has made two first-team appearances for the Blues but played 40 games on loan for League One side Coventry City last season.

Lions make bid for Wanderers defender

Millwall have submitted a bid for Wycombe Wanderers defender Jason McCarthy according to the latest reports from Football Insider.

A number of clubs have reportedly been tracking McCarthy, 23, this summer, but the Championship club have firmed up their interest with an official offer.

QPR and Wednesday eye League One defender

Rotherham United defender Clark Robertson is attracting the attention of two Championship clubs.

QPR and Sheffield Wednesday are both reportedly keen on a move for the centre-back.

Robertson has been with the Millers since making the move from Blackpool in 2018.

Hoops accept Baggies bid

Queens Park Ranger have accepted a £1.5 million bid for youngster Darnell Furlong.

The 23-year-old made 29 appearances in all competitions last season, continuing his first-team involvement having come through the academy at Loftus Road.

But he is now set to move to The Hawthorns with the player now in talks over personal terms.

Blackburn close in on City youngster

Blackburn Rovers are closing in on a loan deal for Manchester City youngster Tosin Adarabioyo.

The England youth international is expected to complete his loan move to Ewood Park in the near future.

Adarabioyo made 27 appearances during his loan spell with West Brom last season.

QPR snap up keeper

QPR have signed keeper Dillon Barnes on a two-year deal.

The 23-year-old rejected a new deal with Colchester United in the summer.

Manager Mark Warburton said: “We’re delighted to welcome a talented, young goalkeeper with so much development potential in Dillon to the club.

“He has shown many qualities in his career already – and we look forward to seeing him develop in the months ahead.”
