Championship rivals join race for Nottingham Forest striker ahead of new season

Nottingham Forest striker Tyler Walker is believed to be on the wanted list of Championship rivals Coventry City.

The PA news agency understands the Sky Blues want the Reds forward on loan for the coming season.

Walker returned to the City Ground in January, after spending the first half of last term on loan at Lincoln City.

Despite getting on the scoresheet in only his second game back at Forest, regular game time then proved tough to come by.

The 23-year-old made seven appearances in total for Sabri Lamouchi’s side, with just two of those coming after the campaign restarted in June.

Prior to that, he had been in fine form for the League One Imps, netting 16 goals in 34 games.

Lyle Taylor’s arrival Trentside means Walker is likely to find himself further down the pecking order when the 2020/21 term gets underway.

And PA understand Coventry have joined the race for his signature after reigniting their interest.

Boss Mark Robins is a long-time admirer of the Nigel Doughty Academy product, having tracked him for a number of seasons.

Hull and Peterborough United have also been linked, but the Sky Blues can offer second tier football, following their promotion as title winners.
