Middlesbrough boss Jonathan Woodgate has confirmed an interest in reported Nottingham Forest target Jack Clarke.
But he believes a switch to the Riverside is unlikely for the Tottenham Hotspur winger.
The Reds are one of a number of teams to have been linked with a loan move for the 19-year-old, who was recalled by Spurs after spending the first half of the season at Leeds United.
The teenager is expected to be loaned out again for the second half of the campaign, with Millwall, QPR, Stoke City, Fulham, Brentford and Derby County also among those said to be keen.
And Woodgate says he, too, is a fan of Clarke.
“Really like him,” he said. “He’s a really, really top player and he’s a Spurs player at the minute.
“I do like Jack Clarke.
“Are we going to get him? I don’t think so but he’s a good, good player.”
Clarke joined Tottenham last summer, after coming up through the ranks at Leeds, but was immediately loaned back to the Elland Road side.
However, he made just three appearances this term - only one of those in the Championship - before being recalled.
And, according to Sky Sports: “Spurs will allow Clarke to go out on loan again after they recalled him from Leeds, but they want assurances he will get regular first-team games.”
