Championship pundit predicts play-off finish - good news for Aston Villa, bad news for Bristol City, Middlesbrough and Nottingham Forest

David Prutton has offered his thoughts on the Championship play-off race.

Bristol City are one of the teams involved in the battle for the top six, with just seven points separating fifth place and 12th place in the Championship.

The Robins are currently sat ninth, with two games in hand on sixth-placed Aston Villa, but are currently on a poor run of form and have some tough games coming uip.

Speaking to Nottinghamshire Live , Prutton says he feels Villa will make it into the play-offs - but said that Middlesbrough, who have lost their last three matches, could drop out.

Lee Johnson's No1 conundrum, is it time for Taylor? - Talking Points as Bristol City players return to training

He said: "Derby, Preston and Bristol City will still fancy their chances too. You would probably draw the cut off line under Forest for teams who can make it.

"If I had a gun to my head, I would say Villa will get in there. They're in a strong position.

"The top six as it stands feels the most likely. You can see Middlesbrough falling below Villa.

"Boro are the ones most likely to drop out for me. It's going to be awfully tight."
