Championship prediction that will leave Forest supporters stunned and Leeds United fans overjoyed

Nottingham Forest's promotion hopes took a huge step forward on Tuesday night as they edged past fellow high-fliers Brentford at Griffin Park.

Joe Lolley's deflected strike proved to be the difference between the two sides on an evening that Reds fans could look back on a key moment when the final standings are totted up in May.

Sabri Lamouchi's side are currently third in the second-tier, just two points behind the automatic promotion places.

Throughout the season we have asked out supercomputer, which used statistical analysis of each and ever team's past performances, to predict where Forest will finish this term using.

And despite their previous victory, the Reds are still tipped to narrowly miss out on a spot in the top two, with Thomas Frank's side, beaten on Tuesday night, predicted to snatch second by a single point.

Leeds United will romp home as champions, says the supercomputer, with 89 points while West Bromwich Albion, who have led the way more than any side so far, will finish below Forest in fifth.

Fulham and Bristol City will finish just inside the play-off with the Robins in position to face Forest in the play-off semi-final.

At the other end of the table, Luton Town, Barnsley and Wigan Athletic are tipped to suffer relegation to League One.
