Championship prediction has Leeds United champions but good news for Bristol City and Nottingham Forest

Bristol City have been predicted to sneak into the Championship play-offs this season.

Leading data analyst Nate Silver's Five Thirty Eight blog have created a statistical model to predict the outcome of the Championship this season.

The Robins are tipped to finish sixth in the table, and have a 29 per cent chance of making the play-offs.

City are predicted to finish on 69 points, and also have a nine per cent chance of winning promotion.

The Robins would face third-placed Brentford in the play-offs.

Elsewhere in the prediction, Leeds United would finish top, nine points clear of West Brom in second.

Marcelo Bielsa's side are said to have a 59 per cent chance of winning the title and an 85 per cent likelihood of winning promotion, despite their patchy recent form.

Brentford are predicted to finish just a point behind West Brom in third - but they still retain a 53 per cent chance of being promoted.

Fulham and Nottingham Forest would be the other two teams in the play-off places.

At the other end of the table, Wigan Athletic, Barnsley and Luton Town would all go down.

The Hatters have a massive 90 per cent likelihood of being relegated, with Barnsley themselves having a 74 per cent chance of going down.
