Championship morning headlines: Bristol City boss makes Aston Villa transfer claim as Leeds United rumours blasted

Robins looked at Hogan

Bristol City boss Lee Johnson has admitted the Robins ran the rule over potentially signing Scott Hogan.

The Aston Villa outcast was recalled from his loan at Stoke City in January over a lack of football and potential interest elsewhere.

Whilst the Robins looked at the striker, he instead went on loan to Birmingham City and, of course, scored in Friday's game at Ashton Gate.

Hogan now has four goals against City - the most he has scored against anyone in his career.

Blades boss blasts Leeds links

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder has hit out at reports he made Billy Sharp available in January after interest from Leeds United.

“I was disappointed with a situation when people were talking about me allowing Billy to go out,” the 52-year-old told  the Yorkshire Post. “Their ‘facts’ weren’t right.

“I said if Billy knocked on my door and said he wanted to play elsewhere then I’d do what I could to facilitate that. He hadn’t. So that was the end of the story.”

Derby County man admits time at club is over

The News at Den report that Mason Bennett has admitted his time at Derby County is at an end following his switch to Millwall.

He said: "I’m here to play football.

"I think that’s what the fans want to see. What’s happened has happened and I’m here to give my all for this club. I’ve had my time at Derby and when I look back on it I have some great memories. But I need to move on with my career and get going again."
