Championship loan state of play - Man Utd, Liverpool and 'king of loans' Chelsea

Chelsea's reputation as the kings of loaning youngsters out certainly rings true in the Championship this term.

The Blues have been known to farm out dozens of players in recent years and whilst it has been scaled back somewhat, there are still plenty of their players out on loan.

A total of five Chelsea players are on temporary deals in the second tier this season.

Juan Castillo is at Birmingham, Nathan Baxter at Hull, Jake Clarke-Salter and Ian Maatsen are both at Coventry and Levi Colwill is spending the campaign at Huddersfield.

All will be hoping to follow Trevoh Chalobah's lead.

The 22-year-old has enjoyed a breakthrough summer and recently made his Premier League debut, capping it off with a goal at Stamford Bridge to mark a truly memorable day.

The aforementioned quintet will be targeting a similar outcome further down the line in their own careers.

Those five deals are just some of the many Premier League players who will spend the present campaign in the hustle and bustle of the Championship.

Others also gaining valuable playing time include Manchester United's Tahith Chong, at Birmingham, and Liverpool's Leighton Clarkson at Blackburn.

Arsenal, Man United, Liverpool, Brighton and Wolves each have three players on temporary deals, with Norwich and Watford both sending two players out so far on similar arrangments.

Three other top flight clubs have sent a player to a Championship team but nine Premier League sides are yet to follow suit.

There is however still a fortnight until the window slams shut, so we can expect more top flight clubs to sanction loan moves to the EFL for their youngsters before August 31.
