GOAL! Brentford 0-1 Nottingham Forest (Tyler Walker, 61 min)

It’s not often Derby fans will appreciate a Nottingham Forest goal, but they’ll like hearing about this one. Tyler Walker, son of Des, fires past Button at his near post to give Forest the lead at Griffin Park.

Norwich are closing in on top spot! And it’s another for Bradley Johnson, the midfielder volleying in with his left foot after a corner fell his way!

Oh, it being a Leyton Orient fan was so much fun 10 minutes ago. Wouldn’t they just love to go and live back in 10 minutes ago? Unfortunately they can’t and now they’re losing 2-1 at home to Gillingham after Cody McDonald’s goal.

George Waring has given Barnsley the lead at Colchester.

GOAL! Bournemouth 1-2 Birmingham (Cook, 39 min)

GOAL! Bournemouth 0-1 Birmingham (Donaldson, 18 min)

Watford fans, this goal is for you. Birmingham lead against Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth and it was as simple as they come, a long ball over the top that ran through to Clayton Donaldson, who took advantage of slack defending to lob the advancing Artur Boruc.

Preamble

To paraphrase a preamble you might have seen just three days ago, what a treat, Monday afternoon football. Thanks, Jesus! What a guy!

We’ve got plenty of League One and League Two fixtures, but obviously the main focus remains on the top of the Championship. Watford and Middlesbrough are already well into it at Vicarage Road, so Bournemouth will hope to take another step towards the Premier League by beating Birmingham City at the Goldsands Stadium. They should win. They need to win. Norwich City are only two points behind and host mid-table Sheffield Wednesday at home. It’s. So. Damn. Tight.

And the battle to get into the play-offs is just as fascinating. Brentford are looking good in fifth place after their 4-1 win at Fulham on Friday and host Nottingham Forest, while Derby County, winless in their past seven matches and wasteful enough to throw away a 2-1 lead against Watford on Friday, go to struggling Wigan Athletic. Steve McClaren’s side need to get back on track today. Only goal difference is keeping them in sixth, above Ipswich, who go to Huddersfield Town, and Wolves, who host Leeds United in the late kick-off. Leeds, eh? A one-club story machine. It’s never quiet there.
