'Championship Kante' - Nottingham Forest fans react to new signing as Malmo supporters left gutted

Nottingham Forest fans have had their say on the arrival of the club’s fourth summer signing.

Midfielder Fouad Bachirou has joined the Reds from Swedish side Malmo, penning a two-year deal at the City Ground.

And while Forest supporters have been welcoming the latest arrival, it seems Malmo followers are gutted to see him go.

Bachirou joins Jack Colback, Tyler Blackett and Lyle Taylor in joining up with Sabri Lamouchi’s side as they aim for a promotion push.

It will be the 30-year-old’s first taste of English football, having started out at PSG’s academy and gone on to play for Scottish outfit Greenock Morton, as well as Ostersunds.

Bachirou said of his move: “After six years in Sweden, it feels like a natural step for me to try out games in England when the opportunity arose.

“It is the right moment to step out of my comfort zone a little, even though I have enjoyed myself immensely in Malmö FF and here in the city.”

He will link up with his new teammates as they step up their preparations for the upcoming campaign, which will begin away to Barnsley in the Carabao Cup on September 5.

Here’s what Forest fans - and Malmo supporters - have been saying about the latest bit of business.

And here's how Malmo fans reacted to Bachirou leaving.

Malmo sports director Daniel Andersson has spoken highly of the contribution Bachirou has made.

“Ever since Fouad came to us, he has been an important player who has contributed with many fine efforts,” he said.

“Many of us remember the away match against Besiktas where he was dominant and basically flawless.

“But we feel well equipped in the inner midfield, both with experienced players and some younger ones waiting for the chance.

“When Fouad wanted a new challenge at the same time, we did not want to stand in the way.”
