Championship gossip: West Bromwich Albion and Middlesbrough join race for West Ham United star; Cardiff City chairman in takeover talks; Patience lost with Leeds United striker

All is quiet regarding Bristol City transfer news at the moment.

Whilst we wait for some action at Ashton Gate, here is the latest gossip from across the division.

Oxford goner?

The Telegraph report that West Brom and Middlesbrough have both stepped up their interest in West Ham defender Reece Oxford.

Oxford was expected to leave London for Augsburg, but that move is now on the brink of collapse due to a dispute over a relegation clause.

It has led both West Brom and Boro to renew their interest in the player.

Dalman in takeover talks

Wales Online report that Cardiff City chairman Mehmet Dalman is involved in takeover talks at Charlton Athletic.

Dalman's departure from the Bluebirds would be a hammer blow to the club, and especially to manager Neil Warnock, who he has a close working relationship with.

Negotiations between Dalman and Charlton owner Roland Duchatelet have been ongoing for some time.

McCarthy loses patience

Ireland manager Mick McCarthy has lost his patience with Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford - saying it the player's international future is now in his own hands.

He said : “I’m not going chasing him anymore. It was left on the back-burner and I think it’s up to Patrick. If he rings me up and he wants to play then yes.

“But let me ask you a question. If you’re an Irish player and you thought you were good enough to play for Ireland, what would you do? Would you pick the phone up? That’s what I did. If he wants to play he’s got to.”
