Championship evening headlines: Jarrod Bowen for £16m as Nottingham Forest submit Newcastle United bid

Benkovic battle

Bristol City are said to be leading the race for Filip Benkovic.

The Leicester City defender is set to leave on loan this month and the Robins are keen to add to their back line following the departure of Bailey Wright to Sunderland.

Bowen bid

The starting gun has been fired in the race for Jarrod Bowen.

Crystal Palace have agreed a fee of £16m to sign the forward from Hull City, but it could well trigger interest from elsewhere.

Both Newcastle United and West Ham have been keeping tabs on the 23-year-old, but they may have to act quickly or risk losing him.

Conflicting Gayle reports

Are Nottingham Forest bidding for Dwight Gayle?

The Newcastle United striker has been in demand in January, but an injury appeared to put paid to any chance of him moving on.

Yet Craig Hope at the Daily Mail has claimed that Forest are set to make a loan offer for the high-earning hitman, with a £15m guaranteed transfer if they win promotion.

However, the Athletic's Paul Taylor says this is not actually happening.

So, who to believe?
