Championship clubs "in talks" about friendlies which could see Leeds United return to action in May

Leeds United haven't been in action since beating Huddersfield Town 2-0 over five weeks ago.

The Whites had found a purple patch in form that had seen them take a stranglehold on the automatic promotion places, with five consecutive victories without conceding.

With nine games to go, Marcelo Bielsa's side are in the perfect position to ensure they do not repeat last season's heartbreaking slip-up.

If any Championship club can cope with a two-month hiatus from football, it's Leeds United, drilled day in day out by Bielsa's extreme training drills.

However, some ring rust for every side is understandable and inevitable, with no clear date set on when football will return to action.

The latest reports emerging claim that Championship clubs are looking into the possibility of arranging friendly matches with teams outside of their division ahead of a return to action.

EFL chairman Ricky Parry stated in his latest letter to all 71 EFL clubs that they must not return to training before May 16, whilst reiterating their commitment to completing the 2019/20 season.

With that in mind, the Daily Mail claim that Championship clubs have begun talks over potential friendlies for late May, to be played behind closed doors.

It's unclear where Leeds United fall in those reports, with no specific clubs named as the instigators behind these informal conversations.
