Championship club set to beat Nottingham Forest to signing of Premier League striker - reports

Reported Nottingham Forest transfer target Connor Wickham looks set to sign for one of their Sky Bet Championship rivals.

The Crystal Palace striker has been linked with a move to the City Ground during this month’s transfer window, with Watford and Bristol City also credited with an interest in the frontman.

Now according to the Daily Mail, Sheffield Wednesday are set to sign the 26-year-old on loan for the remainder of the season.

Wickham is seen as surplus to requirements at Selhurst Park, after the arrival of striker Cenk Tosun on loan from Everton.

The former Sunderland and Ipswich Town striker was on the bench for Palace in their 1-1 draw with Arsenal on Saturday.

Manager Sabri Lamouchi has made no secret of his desire to make additions this month, even if the January window does prove to be a challenging time to do business.

The Reds currently have Lewis Grabban as the club’s first choice striker, while Rafa Mir, who is on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers, is yet to score for Forest.
