Champions Trophy: Extended practice session for Pakistan ahead of marquee India clash

NEW DELHI: Senior batsman and former captain Babar Azam faced a number of bowlers during the Pakistan cricket team's lengthy practice session on Friday in preparation for Sunday's Champions Trophy match against India in Dubai.

After losing to New Zealand by 60 runs in the first game in Karachi, Pakistan are in a do-or-die situation.

With the exception of captain Mohammad Rizwan, every batter participated in a lengthy 20-minute batting session during the team's three-hour practice at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Babar Azam, the batting stalwart, faced each bowler for at least two overs. Against New Zealand, the former captain had struck a calm 64 from 90 deliveries.

Pacers Haris Rauf and Shaheen Shah Afridi, who are anticipated to be key players in the game against the bitter rivals, each bowled seven overs.

During a lengthy meeting with the players, Pakistan's interim coach Aaqib Javed and captain Rizwan spoke the most.
