Gary Doctor hopes Glasgow City have one eye on their upcoming Champions League tie when they face Hamilton on Sunday.
Accies welcome the Scottish champions to New Douglas Park in the final SWPL Cup group stage clash.
Glasgow City have already qualified but Hamilton’s progression into the next round isn’t guaranteed.
Spartans could leapfrog Accies if they beat Glasgow girls by a few goals and Accies lose to Grant Scott’s side.
But Glasgow City face a vital Champions League qualifier against Swiss side Chenois in midweek and Accies boss Doctor expects them to rest players.
“I imagine that they’ll have one eye on the Champions League tie,” Doctor admitted. “We hope that’s something we can take advantage of but it’s never going to be easy.
“I was looking at their bench at the weekend and players who weren’t even on it and they’ve got a fantastic squad.
“I’d expect City to make a few changes, regardless, from the team that played on Saturday. I think they’d try to utilise their squad because they’ve already qualified.
“They’ve won both their games so you think that they might rotate. It won’t be a weakened team because all their players are quality but hopefully it’s something that we can capitalise on.
“We might be able to pick up a weakness as some of their players might not have played as much.
“It’s an opportunity for us but we need to make sure that we are at it. This is what we worked for last season and we want to get into the next round of the cup because it’s something that we’ve not done in a while.”
Accies have performed well in the SWPL Cup so far as they prepare to make their SWPL1 return after achieving promotion last season.
Doctor watched City beat BIIK Kazygurt on Saturday and he was hugely impressed.
He added: “I went to watch them on Saturday against the team from Kazakhstan and I thought they played really well.
“It just reminded you of the level of competition that we’ll face this season. Although it’s a cup-tie, we still face them three times in the league this season.
“It’s a game to relish and look forward to. We are playing the best team in Scotland with the best players in the country.
“We’ve got a great chance to get out of the group so it gives us even more incentive to get a good result.
“We’ve given ourselves the best possible opportunity to go through. Spartans will need to get a result and our result will need to go their way.”
