Champions League tickets on sale for THOUSANDS just hours after Liverpool ballot

Champions League final tickets have already appeared on resale sites just hours after a disappointing Liverpool ballot.

Thousands of die-hard fans missed out on the opportunity for tickets to the match against Tottenham in Madrid on June 1 but those left frustrated after the 2pm ballot have now been dealt a bitter blow.

Hundreds of the limited tickets allocated to fans have now popped up on resale site StubHub for unbelievable prices that range from €3,000 (£2,619) to €40,000 (£35,000).

The cheapest ticket on sale on the site at time of writing is €3,400 (£2,968) and is located in category 4 of the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium.

Fans willing to spend more for added luxury can even purchase a number of hospitality tickets, priced at an outrageous €27,999 (£24,445).

A number of tickets for VIP Gold section are also now selling for around €40,000 (£34,924).

The Spirit of Shankly and Tottenham Hotspur Supporters' Trust released a joint statement after the ballot calling for sponsors of the Champions League to return tickets they had been allocated for the final to the fans of each club.

According to the supporters' unions, it is believed that fans of the competing clubs only received around 25% of available tickets.

Fans took to Twitter after the ballot was announced to express their disappointment.

Paul Wood said: "Gutted I didn't get a ticket in the ballot. Good luck to everyone who managed to get selected.

"Enjoy your trip and bring big ears home will ya!"

Deborah Cohen also said: "No joy in the lfc Champions League ticket ballot.

"To this day, the only thing I have ever won in a raffle is a fully illustrated evangelical bible.

"My father maintains it was rigged."

Many also used social media, after being let down, to see if any other fans had spare tickeets.

Elliot Smith said: "This might be the most pointless tweet anyone's ever sent but any chance of a spare for the champions league final?

"Unsuccessful in the ballot."
