Champions League forward linked with Nottingham Forest move - reports

Nottingham Forest have been linked with a multi-million pound move for out of favour Galatasaray striker Mbaye Diagne.

The 28-year-old centre-forward scored 11 goals in 17 games to help fire the Turkish giants to the league and cup double in 2019 before being frozen out and sent out on loan to Club Brugge, with whom he’s played Champions League football this season.

Sabri Lamouchi could pay big for £7million rated Senegal international if Forest make a return to the Premier League, claims HITC.

Speaking to HaberTurk, Diagne admits he has been left stunned by Galatasaray’s decision to freeze him out of the first-team picture after doing so well last year, believing he would be the club’s first choice No.9.

But Diagne was farmed out on loan to Club Brugge right at the end of the summer transfer window with Radamel Falcao replacing him in the Turkish capital.

According to Fotospor, a move to England is now on the cards with Championship promotion hopefuls Forest understood to be keen if they get up.

Lamouchi’s men are sat fifth in the Championship, nicely poised for a play-off campaign and chance to return to the English top flight.

And even if Diagne had planned on returning to his parent club, it looks as if that decision has already been taken out of his hands.

“I was very confused," said the prolific goal scorer who hit 32 goals in 34 league appearances for Turkish side Kasimpasa, prior to joining Galatasaray in 2019.

“We had won both the league and the Cup and I didn’t expect anything like this.

“Galatasaray signed a new number nine and it was important for me to play. I found that I was no longer essential.

“So I decided to move to Brugge because the club qualified for the Champions League.”

The former Juventus front man has plenty of pace and power and has racked up over £17m in transfer fees so far in is career.
