Champions League semi-finals: When are the games and who plays who

The Champions League semi-finalists have been confirmed after two nights of dramatic quarter-final action.

Just 24 hours after Barcelona and Ajax dumped out Manchester United and Juventus, Tottenham stunned Manchester City in a thriller at the Etihad and Liverpool cruised past Porto.

There were certainly plenty of shocks in the quarter-finals, with Cristiano Ronaldo's Juventus and Pep Guardiola's City now out of the competition having been considered amongst the favourites.

But Lionel Messi and Barcelona remain with a huge clash with Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool side awaiting them and Spurs and Ajax set to do battle in the other semi-final.

The draw was carried out at the same time as the quarter-final draw, but few could have predicted these match-ups to materialise.

The semi-final first legs will take place on April 30 and May 1, with the second leg fixtures pencilled in for May 7 and May 8.

Liverpool made no mistake against Porto, winning 6-1 on aggregate but they face a massive road block in their bid to reach a second straight final.

When the quarter-final draw was announced, there was already talk of a stunning showdown with arch rivals United but they were unable to get past the La Liga champions-in-waiting.

For Barcelona, Tuesday was also a night when they broke through a barrier having been knocked out in the quarter-finals for three straight years in the competition.

Spurs, meanwhile, were involved in an all-time classic as they dramatically beat City on away goals after the teams were tied 4-4 on aggregate after City won a seven-goal second leg thriller 4-3 at the Etihad.

All roads lead to the June 1 final at Atletico Madrid's Wanda Metropolitano with Liverpool and Spurs now flying the Premier League flag in the showpiece competition.

For administrative purposes, it will be the winner of semi-final one, Tottenham vs Ajax, who are the home team for the final in June.
