With the group stage over, we now know who will be the 16 teams in the Champions League when Europe’s elite competition enters the knockout stages in the New Year.
Bayern Munich were the only club to come through their group with maximum points and scored more than anybody with 24 goals, but are struggling in the Bundesliga and are without a permanent manager.
Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus topped their respective groups with 16 points, and while Juve face a battle at the top of Serie A this season, PSG are once again cruising with Kylian Mbappe, Neymar, Angel Di Maria and Mauro Icardi all firing.
Tottenham, Chelsea, Manchester City and the reigning European champions Liverpool all qualified from the Premier League making England the most represented nation among the 16 clubs, though Spurs and Chelsea will face tricky games against one of the group winners.
As ever in the Champions League group stage there were few surprises, but Lyon and Atalanta are two sides who will need to pull of a major upset to reach the quarter-finals.
