Champions League pots for 2019/20 after Liverpool victory over Tottenham

Liverpool will be among the top seeds for the Champions League group stage next season.

The Reds beat Tottenham 2-0 in the Champions League final at the Wanda Metropolitano on Saturday - with goals from Mo Salah and Divock Origi.

The victory meant Liverpool lifted their sixth European Cup but has also boosted their chances in next season's competition.

Jurgen Klopp's men will be in Pot 1 for the draw for the group stage, alongside Europa League champions Chelsea and Premier League holders Manchester City .

They would obviously have been drawn against their English rivals, but will also avoid facing Barcelona , Juventus , Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and Zenit St Petersburg.

The bad news is that Pot 2 has some equally imposing giants in - with Real Madrid , Atletico Madrid, Ajax, Borussia Dortmund and Napoli among those likely to be in the second pot.

A potential group of death could see Liverpool paired with Real Madrid, Inter Milan and RB Leipzig.

Tottenham are the only Premier League outfit not in Pot 1, despite coming runners-up this season - instead they will be placed in pot two.
