Bastian Schweinsteiger cast aside the bitter memories of Bayern's Champions League final defeat in May by putting the German side ahead as they kicked off the new campaign against Valencia. Their lead was doubled in the 76th minute by a 20 yard drive from Toni Kroos, above sixth left, before Nelson Valdez snatched a consolation goal during injury time.
