Champions League: Manchester United and Tottenham's group games
After their lacklustre 0-0 draw against Rangers on matchday one, Manchester United will be looking to register their first win of this season's campaign at the Mestalla stadium. It'll be a tough ask as Valencia are unbeaten this season and sitting on top of La Liga. He gets on the end of a Federico Macheda pass and his tidy finish from just inside the box gives United the lead. After a bit of shenanigans from the miffed Twente team, Rafael van der Vaart steps up and plants the ball to the keeper's right ... but Mihaylov is more than equal to it, sticking up his arm to palm the ball to safetyPhotograph: Nick Potts/PAAlmost immediately after half-time, Van der Vaart makes up for his penalty miss when he opens the scoring with a sublime volley. Crouch knocks down a deep cross from the right which the Dutch striker controls on his chest before swivelling and firing the ball into the top right corner. Fabulous. Not so fabulous was his mid-air shoulder barge on Roberto Rosales five minutes later which earnt him his second yellow and an early bathPhotograph: Dylan Martinez/ReutersThen just five minutes later Spurs double their lead courtesy of a penalty after Bale is scythed down in the box by Rosales. Roman Pavlyuchenko shows his Dutch team-mate how to take a penalty when he hammers the ball into the left hand side of the net: 2-0. It doesn't stay that way for long as in the 56th minute Chadli calmly strokes the ball home in a crowded penalty area.
