Champions League last-16 draw in full: Chelsea avoid nightmare with Lille tie, Man United to face PSG

Chelsea avoided a potential nightmare Champions League tie after they were drawn against French side Lille in the last-16, but Manchester United face a blockbuster clash with Paris Saint-Germain.

The Blues could only finish second to Juventus after conceding a stoppage time leveller in their final group game against Zenit St. Petersburg.

That left Thomas Tuchel’s side unseeded in the draw and facing the possibility of a clash with the likes of Real Madrid, Bayern Munich or Ajax, but they were instead drawn against the Ligue 1 side.

Man United did manage to top their group despite a tumultuous group stage campaign, but their ‘reward’ will be a mouthwatering tie against PSG. The match will see Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi renewing their rivalry, while Mauricio Pochettino - much admired at Old Trafford and a leading contender to be their next permanent manager - will be up against interim boss Ralf Rangnick in an intriguing sub-plot to the fixture.

Both Liverpool and Manchester City will be relatively content with their draws, the former facing Austrian side RB Salzburg and the latter Villarreal, who were initially drawn against Man United in a draw error, having already faced them in the group stage.
