Champions League final venues up to 2023 revealed including Wembley return

UEFA is said to be on the verge of confirming Wembley as the host venue for the 2023 Champions League final.

Sky Sports report that the footballing governing body plan to make the announcement next week.

The Wanda Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid held this summer's Champions League final between Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, with the Reds winning the competition for the sixth time thanks to a 2-0 victory.

The Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul has already been confirmed as the venue for the 2020 final which will finish the 2019/20 club season.

Sky are reporting that UEFA plan to announce the venues for the finals in 2021, 2022 and 2023 next week.

And it is believed that Wembley is set for the 2023 final, while St Petersburg in Russia and Germany's Munich are expected to be the host venues for the 2021 and 2022 finals respectively.

Zenit St Petersburg's Krestovsky Stadium has a 68,000 capacity, while Bayern Munich's Allianz Arena holds 75,000.

Wembley is the biggest of the lot and can hold a total of 90,000.

Liverpool claimed their second European Cup at Wembley back in 1978 with a 1-0 win against Club Brugge.
