Champions League Final: ‘High risk’ Tottenham vs Liverpool clash set for unprecedented security measures

The upcoming Champions League final will feature unprecedented security measures after being deemed "high risk" by Spanish authorities.

For the first time in over a decade, two English teams will compete for the biggest prize in European football as Tottenham and Liverpool meet at the Wanda Metropolitano in Madrid.

Spanish police say the operation prepared for Saturday's final will be the biggest ever for a sporting event in the country's capital.

Officials say the measures will surpass those put in place for last year's Copa Libertadores final between Argentine rivals River Plate and Boca Juniors, a match that was also declared "high risk" by authorities.

More than 4,700 security personnel will be involved in the Champions League operation, which for the first time will include the use of drones to monitor fan activity.

More than 30,000 English fans are expected to watch the final at the 68,000-capacity home of Atletico Madrid, which open less than two years ago.
