Champions League draw: Who Liverpool, Man City, Man Utd and Chelsea can face in last-16

All four Premier League teams sealed their progress to the last 16 of the Champions League with a game or more to spare, with three of the four winning their groups.

Chelsea are the odd ones out, after a late Zenit equaliser meant they had to settle for second place in their group behind Juventus, and Thomas Tuchel's side may end up with a trickier draw as a consequence.

The final round of fixtures saw almost all the remaining loose ends tied up, with Atletico Madrid among the teams to make sure of their progress on Tuesday night and Benfica going through ahead of Barcelona on Wednesday.

However, there's one more tie to be resolved, with Atalanta's winner-take-all clash being postponed until Thursday due to snow in Bergamo.

Manchester City

A September defeat to Paris Saint-Germain left Manchester City playing catch-up, but victory in the return match - coupled with dropped points for Mauricio Pochettino's side elsewhere - saw the English champions through and let them rest players for the final group game in Leipzig.

Pep Guardiola's side ended up facing Borussia Monchengladbach at the last-16 stage in 2020-21, and this time have one of six possible group runners-up in their path.

City can be drawn against Atletico Madrid, Sporting CP, Inter Milan, Benfica, Red Bull Salzburg or whichever of Atalanta and Villarreal makes it through to the next round.

Liverpool

A perfect record in the group stages means Liverpool are unlikely to be daunted by any opponent in the second round, with Atletico Madrid, Porto and AC Milan all put to the sword home and away.

Jurgen Klopp's side saw off RB Leipzig in the last-16 last season before falling to Real Madrid in the quarter-finals, and won't be able to face the Spanish side immediately thanks to Carlo Ancelotti's side beating Inter Milan to top their group.

Inter are one of the options for the Reds, along with PSG, Sporting CP, Benfica, Atalanta or Villarreal, and Red Bull Salzburg.

Manchester United

Manchester United had some nervy moments in the group stage, requiring comebacks to get points against Atalanta in their home and away meetings, but had the luxury of ringing the changes in Ralf Rangnick's first Champions League game in charge.

The result in the rescheduled Atalanta-Villarreal game doesn't impact United's options, as two teams from the same group cannot meet in the last 16.

This leaves PSG, Atletico Madrid, Sporting CP, Inter Milan, Benfica or Red Bull Salzburg.

Chelsea

A second-place finish for Chelsea could be damaging, especially given how close they were to getting the job done in Russia.

Thomas Tuchel's side cannot face group opponents Juventus again, and they can't be drawn against any of their Premier League rivals, so there are only four options for them.

Two of their potential opponents, Bayern Munich and Ajax, have yet to drop a single point in the competition this season. If the Blues manage to avoid either of those opponents, their options will be Real Madrid or Lille.
