Champions League draw simulator reveals most likely group rivals for Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham, Man City

One Champions League fan has simulated the upcoming group stage draw 50 million times to work out the most probable match-ups between the biggest teams.

Pot 1's eight teams have been confirmed for some time, with Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea all among the top seeds, while Ajax have confirmed their place alongside the likes of Tottenham.

Mark Cilia Vincenti of BayernForum.com simulated the draw before the final 32 teams were confirmed, and so used just the top two pots for his experiment with the assumption that Ajax would reach the group stage.

The most likely pairing is a repeat of last season with Barcelona and Tottenham again drawing each other rated as a 21.56 per cent probability. Barca thrashed Spurs at Wembley before a 1-1 draw at Camp Nou rescued the Premier League side in the final group game.

Pot 1

Club Country Coefficient
Barcelona Spain 138.000
Bayern Munich Germany 128.000
Juventus Italy 124.000
Man City England 106.000
PSG France 103.000
Liverpool England 91.000
Chelsea England 87.000
Zenit Russia 72.000

Pot 2

Club Country Coefficient
Real Madrid Spain 146.000
Atletico Madrid Spain 127.000
Dortmund Germany 85.000
Napoli Italy 80.000
Shakhtar Donetsk Ukraine 80.000
Tottenham England 78.000
Ajax Netherlands 70.500
Benfica Portugal 68.000

Spurs fans will be heartened to learn, though, that being matched with Zenit Saint-Petersburg, the weakest Pot 1 team, is the second-likeliest draw at 21.05 per cent.

For Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City, all roads point to Atletico Madrid as the Pot 2 team most likely to be travelling to England for a group-stage double-header.

City are the team, narrowly, deemed as Atletico's more likely opponents at 16.13 per cent. Taking Diego Simeone's team out of the running, Liverpool would face Shakhtar Donetsk, ranked at 15.28 per cent, while Chelsea get Real Madrid at 14.79 per cent.
