Champions League draw: Arsenal vs Bayern, Real Madrid vs Man City

Harry Kane will return to north London for the first time since leaving Tottenham this summer after Arsenal this morning drew Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

The Gunners will host Bayern in the first leg on either April 9 or 10, before travelling to Munich the following week.

There will be no Bayern fans for the first leg at Emirates Stadium as they have been banned by UEFA after throwing fireworks onto the pitch during their 3-1 over Lazio earlier this month.

Should Arsenal make it past Bayern, they will face either Real Madrid or holders Manchester City in the semi-finals.

The other side of the draw will see Atletico Madrid face Borussia Dortmund and the winner of that will face either Paris Saint-Germain or Barcelona in the semi-finals.

Arsenal will be wary about facing Bayern given Kane will lead the line for them. The England captain scored a record 14 goals in north London derbies during his time at Spurs.

There is a further London connection given that Bayern are coached by Thomas Tuchel, who led Chelsea to Champions League glory in 2021. The 50-year-old has struggled this season and is leaving in the summer.

Tuchel is determined to go out on a high and, with Bayer Leverkusen 10 points clear at the top of the Bundesliga, the Champions League is his best bet.

Despite Bayern’s struggles, Kane has been in brilliant for them and he has scored 36 goals and contributed nine assists in 33 games.
