Champions League: Chelsea v Manchester United - in pictures
It's the first time the two teams have met in the Champions League since the 2008 final in Moscow. In honour of the events of that night the United fans made up a chant called 'Viva John Terry' (check out the lyrics here but be warned the chant contains Wayne Rooney's infamously broadcast rude word)Photograph: Tom Hevezi/APWahey! Ryan Giggs is picked out on the left by Michael Carrick's raking pass and José Bosingwa is taken out of the game by the Welshman's wonderful first touch. The Chelsea striker meets Bosingwa's cross well and directs a looping header towards the far corner, but Van der Sar shows stunning agility to fling himself across the goal and tip the ball away 75 minutesPhotograph: Alastair Grant/APHalfway through injury-time, Chelsea think they've got a way back into the game when Ramires is bundled over in the area by a clumsy challenge by Evra, it's a stone-cold penalty ... except the ref doesn't give it. Everyone in the stadium, apart from the United fans obviously, think that referee Mallenco has got that one wrong. Evra should follow Rio's advicePhotograph: Darren Walsh/Chelsea FC via Getty ImagesJust a minute later there's a shout for another Chelsea penalty when Fernando Torres goes down in the area after a challenge by Valencia. United players, especially Rio Ferdinand, are incensed at what they think is a dive. Referee Mallenco seems to agree and books the Chelsea striker for diving Photograph: Dominic Lipinski/PARooney resists the urge to talk to the camera as he trudges off the pitch at the end of the game.
