Champions Day 2019 live results: Horse racing action from Ascot, start times and predictions

The flat racing season comes to an end with a standout card on QIPCO British Champions Day at Ascot. More than £4million in prize money will be up for grabs across six races, including four Group 1 contests.

Star stayer Stradivarius will be looking to extend his unbeaten run to 11 races in the Long Distance Cup, while Magical will go for glory in the Champions Stakes, exactly a year after she won the Fillies’ & Mares’ Stakes at the same meeting.

Oisin Murphy will be crowned champion jockey for the first time in his young career, but Frankie Dettori will be out to spoil the party with a host of fancied rides at one of his favourite tracks.

The build up to the weekend has been dominated by the weather, with huge volumes of rain in the last fortnight leaving the ground on the round course waterlogged in places. As a result, three races on Saturday’s card have been moved to the inner hurdles track.
