Champions Cup organisers have launched an investigation after a mass brawl erupted during Saracens’ victory over Munster on Saturday.

The incident occurred in the second half of Saracens’ 15-6 win at Allianz Park when it was alleged that Jamie Kearns, Munster’s head of medical, made derogatory comments about both hooker Jamie George’s weight and a member of his family.

Tempers flared and players from both teams, including George, became tangled in a brawl that spilled over on to the side of the pitch.

Saracens have opted against making a formal complaint to tournament organisers European Professional Club Rugby, but the ruling body have decided to act.

Champions Saracens’ victory kept alive their European dreams and they are now third in Pool 4, one point behind Munster in second.
