Champagne, watches and other high end goods worth over €100,00 seized in north Dublin raid

Almost 150 high-end items worth over €100,000 have been seized by gardai following a raid in north Dublin.

The stunning haul includes champagne, watches, suitcases and items from Dior and Louis Vuitton.

The goods were discovered in a search of an apartment in the Dublin 3 area yesterday evening at around 7:30pm.

Gardai launched the search after they received a report of a €1,700 fraudulent transaction at a store in the city centre on Tuesday.

A garda spokeswoman said: "On Tuesday, 24th November 2020 Gardaí received report of a fraudulent transaction from a retail premises in Dublin city which left the business at a loss of over €1,700.

"Following this report, Gardaí began an investigation into the fraudulent transaction and after further inquiries, obtained a search warrant for an apartment in Dublin 3.

"Gardaí attached to Pearse Street Community Policing, Street Crime and the Serious Crime Units, executed the search warrant at the apartment in Dublin 3 at approximately 7.30pm yesterday evening.

"During the course of the search, over 142 high-end items, which are believed to be stolen property, were recovered. It is estimated that the total value of the property seized is in excess of €100,000."

As well as the expensive goods, €32,900 and £2,000 in cash were seized along with a number of phones and laptops.

A man in his 30s has been arrested in connection with the investgation.

He is currently detained in Pearse Street Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
