Champagne bottle launched through car window at 70mph on Edinburgh City Bypass

Thugs 'could have killed' a woman after launching a champagne bottle through her car window while driving on the motorway.

Fiona Gray, 45, was left bloodied and badly shaken by the incident on the Edinburgh City Bypass on Saturday May 10.

The mum, from Fife, was travelling with her young son and boyfriend to the Borders when she claims the empty magnum smashed through the windshield.

Shock photos show the damage left behind to the car which was travelling around 70mph at the time, according to Edinburgh Live .

Fiona says she could have been killed had it landed 2-3" to left.

She wrote on Facebook: "This afternoon was supposed to involve a nice drive down to the Borders for a weekend with my amazing bf.

"But instead we could have died on the Edin bypass . Some @&@&ing idiot threw an empty magnum bottle on our car while I was driving at 60-70 mph. 2-3” to the left and I’d be dead. I have no words.

"I bubbled on the shoulder of my bro who helped once the amazing Police had to go.

"So we’re now getting on a train and heading to Chris’ so I can get a big hug. I bloody need it right now. We. Are. So. Lucky.

"We were showered with glass and I’ve got a sore and bloodied side. But lucky. Oh so lucky. Police are going to put a plea out on social media for dash cam footage so they can get the b******. Chances are slim."

Her passenger was luckily wearing sunglasses at the time of the incident, she adds "otherwise the glass would have gone in his eyes" and said "my hands can't stop shaking".
