Champ Bubba Jenkins gets poetic ahead of headlining title fight at Brave CF 24

LONDON – Defending Brave CF featherweight champion Bubba Jenkins will take center stage as the Middle Eastern MMA promotion on Thursday makes its first steps on U.K. soil, and the American (13-4) showed off his storytelling ability ahead of the event.

Brave CF 24 is set to take place at Copper Box Arena on the Olympic Park site that hosted the London 2012 Games. Ahead of his title clash with Brazilian Lucas “Mineiro” Martins (20-4), 11-time Bellator veteran Jenkins has broken his silence.

“People watch movies and they look for the hero, they look for the villain, not understanding that some of these heroes were placed in that position just by straight-up destiny and that some of these villains chose to be that,” Jenkins said.

“This villain chose to come after me, knowing that I am the hero of my division, knowing that I am the king. I sit at the top seat. The highest seat only holds one, so he can continue being the villain, climbing the mountain after me, and I’ll continue to reign.”

All very grandiose stuff.

Jenkins then switched from storytelling to poetry as he served up some rhyming couplets to describe how he felt the fight with Martins would pan out in London on Thursday night.

“If he doesn’t do what he is supposed to do, he doesn’t make it to Round 2,” he declared. “But if he comes for war, wanting more, he counts the lights, and snores in four.”

Jenkins and Martins headline Brave 24, which takes place in front of a specially-invited crowd, including celebrities, influencers and dignitaries, as the promotion looks to make a big first impression in England’s capital.

A statement from the organization explained that the aim of the event is “to connect the highest level of personalities to mixed martial arts, with the goal of empowering the sport and elevating it to a higher standard.”
