Chairman of Jubilee Hills Public School remanded to judicial custody in rape case

Accused in the rape of a domestic worker, Jubilee Hills Public School chairman Murali Mukund was remanded to judicial custody on Tuesday.

The police produced him at the residence of a judge of the Nampally courts and he was remanded to a 14-day custody. He was transferred to the Chanchalguda jail later in the day.

According to the police, Mukund allegedly raped the young woman who had been working at his house. His son Akash too was alleged to have assaulted the woman. The police named the father-son duo as accused number one and two. The latter is reported as absconding and is yet to be arrested.

Police said the accused were booked under IPC S. 376 (rape), 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous means) and 506 (criminal intimidation), among others.

An investigation is underway.
