Chairman drops big hint as to when new season could start for Nottingham Forest

A non-league vice-chairman has dropped a big hint when the new season will start in a post on Twitter.

Hemel Hempstead's Kerry Usherwood predicted that the new campaign would be get under way on September 12.

The governing bodies are yet to determine when the new campaign will begin although many teams are back in training in League One and Two as they await a firm date.

Usherwood Tweeted: "New football season likely to start on Saturday September 12th - not that I know anything particular :-)."

The Premier League and Championship are still in action, of course, due to the long break enforced by the coronavirus pandemic, but they only have a handful of games remaining.

Forest's season is likely to be extended. however, as they look a firm bet to make the Championship play-offs which are just to be played later this month.

The final will take place in August as the Reds chase a return to the Premier League.

If that September date proves to be correct, and Sabri Lamouchi's side make it to the play-off final,  then it would leave the Reds just over a month to prepare for the new campaign.

A decision as to when the new season will start is expected to be announced later this month.
