Chairman confirms club have received offers for Nottingham Forest transfer 'target'

Exeter City chairman Julian Tagg has confirmed that the club have received offers for reported Nottingham Forest transfer target Randell Williams.

The 23-year-old forward has previously been linked with a move to the City Ground, with claims in the January transfer window that the Reds expressed an interest in his services.

A move never materialised, and Williams has remained with the League Two club into the new season, but appears to be still attracting interest.

Tagg has confirmed that Exeter have received offers from League One duo Hull City and Peterborough United, but are yet to make a decision on whether to let the talented winger leave the club.

“It’s been documented that Hull were in at a number not that we thought was right, or that Matt (Taylor) thought was right or the club thought was right, the board,” Tagg told Radio Exeter.

He added: “And Peterborough, the other one, got to a better number that we thought probably was the right place.

“Again, multifaceted aspects to it. It’s not linear, it’s not what we want as the contract runs out in a year.

“What’s the replacement, who’s coming through, what’s below him?

“But it will be up to Randell of course in the end, it’s not like the old days.

“If there’s more clubs interested, which hopefully there is, we want him to go as far as he possibly can.

“For two reasons, one he’s worked really hard, he’s a very, very decent man who’s really put his back into it.

“I think he really does like it here, as so many do, but he has a career and it’s a short one and we have to be cognisant of that.

“The window is open longer than usual, so there’s some more time.

“Nobody’s in a massive hurry, but we’re trying to weight it up on a daily basis almost.”
