Chainsaw Man season 2 is the topic on every anime fan's mind now that the new movie, Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc, is out in the wild. Not only is the new movie canon to the hit anime series, but it also sets up the next arc in Tatsuki Fujimoto's manga, and already, we are hungry for more Devil ass kicking and Denji-fuelled carnage.
Although season 2 hasn't been officially announced yet, as one of the best anime series currently out right now it's only a matter of time before Chainsaw Man gets renewed. In fact, thanks to various statements from the shounen studio MAPPA hinting that they already have plans for the anime's future, as well as all the current praises from critics for the recent movie (read our own Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc review for more on that), it's almost a given that we'll get word about the next season soon.
So ahead of our eventual return to the Public Safety Division, we've put together a guide on the follow-up to the recent Chainsaw Man movie, including a potential Chainsaw Man season 2 release date, what chapters the anime will adapt next in the manga, and more. For more updates on some of the other biggest anime titles out there, take a look at our guides to Vinland Saga season 3 and Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle 2.
Chainsaw Man season 2 release date speculation

Currently, there's no confirmed release date for Chainsaw Man season 2 as it hasn't been officially announced yet.
However, don't worry, anime fans, it's only a matter of time before we get news of Denji's next outing. There is still plenty of Tatsuki Fujimoto's manga left to adapt, and since we are also almost finished with Part 1 (aka the Public Safety Saga), it'll be highly unlikely for the anime to be axed before it at least wraps up those few chapters.
In fact, we know that the anime's studio, MAPPA, already has some kind of plan for season 2 as well, be that covering new arcs or breaking up the recent movie into TV specials.
During an interview with Manabu Otsuka at Anime Expo with Screenrant, the president and CEO of MAPPA stated, "We have plans for what we want to do after the film. We really can’t say. We do have something in mind. We do have the best way of doing whatever comes next, but we really can’t say.“
While that comment is vague, we do still expect to get a season 2 confirmation soon and hopefully a release window as well. Currently, our money is on 2027, given how Chainsaw Man season 1 took a few years to release after its announcement. We'll keep you posted as more news heads our way.
Chainsaw Man season 2 story: what manga chapters will be adapted next?

Since the anime is still technically in Part 1 of the manga even after the events of Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc, it's most likely that if Chainsaw Man season 2 does get announced, it will wrap up the remaining three arcs before we officially enter Part 2. With that in mind, it seems likely that chapters 53 to 97 will be adapted next.
This means that we're expecting to see the International Assassins arc, the Gun Devil arc, and the Control Devil arc on our small screens. The International Assassins arc (to keep it vague) features Denji's increasing notoriety, which puts him on the radar of various hitmen. The Gun Devil arc is (you guessed it) the start of Denji's big fight with the Gun Devil. And finally, the Control Devil arc is one packed with some very big twists and betrayals, so we won't get into the details here in case of spoilers.
Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc covered the Bomb Girl Arc and is very much canon to the main anime (so make sure you watch it). We go into details on the film sets up the next chapters of the story in our detailed Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc ending explained guide. But essentially, the movie shows Denji getting a better grip of his powers, gives fans more of the Fiends, and shows us a pretty brutal side to Makima as well. So, we are pretty much all set to see Denji face off against some more intense Devils.
We're also pretty confident that season 2 will get through all those arcs we mentioned above pretty easily, since Chainsaw Man season 1 gave us 38 chapters before Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc. Technically, season 2 would theoretically be giving us an additional 18 chapters, but we reckon that we'll likely get more episodes than season 1's 12 to account for that fact. After all, breaking up the conclusion of the Public Safety Saga before we go into Part 2 – the Academy Saga – of the story would make fans pretty bummed, right?
As soon as we get concrete news and story updates, we will let you know. So, keep your eyes on this page!
Chainsaw Man season 2 cast speculation

We expect Denji (Kikunosuke Toya), Makima (Tomori Kusunoki), Kobeni (Karin Takahashi), Power (Fairouz Ai), and Aki (Shogo Sakata) all to return in Chainsaw Man season 2.
Following the events of the Reze Arc, we'll also likely see some Fiends return with Beam (Natsuki Hanae), Angel Devil (Maaya Uchida), and Galgali (Yuuya Uchida). However, since season 2 hasn't been officially announced yet, neither has its cast list. Stay tuned as more details come our way.
In the meantime, here is our expected Chainsaw Man season 2 main cast list so far:
- Kikunosuke Toya as Denji
- Shiori Izawa as Pochita
- Tomori Kusunoki as Makima
- Shogo Sakata as Aki Hayakawa
- Fairouz Ai as Power
- Karin Takahashi as Kobeni Higashiyama
- Maaya Uchida as Angel Devil
- Natsuki Hanae as Beam
- Yuuya Uchida as Galgali
When can we expect a Chainsaw Man season 2 trailer?

It will be some time before we get a trailer for Chainsaw Man since the new season hasn't technically been confirmed yet, and the recent Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc has only recently been released. However, looking at past trends, Chainsaw Man season 1's trailer was released over a year before we got the actual show, but only around six months after it was announced to be in the works.
Since Chainsaw Man is popular and depending on the movie's box office performance, it's possible that we get confirmation for the next season sometime this year, and with that in mind, a trailer for season 2 possibly around mid-2026. That's just speculation on our part, though. We'll be sure to update our timeline once we have word from MAPPA.
Will we be getting another Chainsaw Man movie?

Currently, another Chainsaw Man movie following Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc hasn't been confirmed yet.
However, it isn't off the cards either. The decision to make a Chainsaw Man movie instead of season 2 immediately after season 1 was to try and capture a broader audience, and because MAPPA felt that the Bomb Girl arc was a perfect fit for the big screen as well.
In terms of whether we will be getting more movies or going back to a traditional season model for Chainsaw Man, MAPPA President Manabu Ohtsuka isn't sure at the moment.
"We're always thinking about what's the best way to deliver Chainsaw Man to the fans who love the franchise. That's what's always on our minds. But how we're going to do it, if we're going to do it, we'll announce it when we announce it. We can't talk about it," he explained during an interview with Anime News Network.
We are sure a decision on the direction of the anime's future will be made once box-office numbers are in. It will also likely be able to tell the studio what format most resonates with fans as well. Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle recently broke box office records, signalling a potential market for anime movies to surge in cinemas. Only time will tell whether Chainsaw Man decides to stay on the big screen train or return to an episodic format.
